CLOSED-Rainbow ContestIn celebration of my son reaching 1 month old (a milestone we were uncertain he would make only a few short weeks ago), I'm holding a mini contest - Rainbow.
During the end of my pregnancy I had a bit of a craving for not food, but colours. Lots of colours. Rainbows became a big thing for me. They made me happy. My baby shower was rainbow themed, with a big cake to match.
As I start to adjust to the ups and downs of motherhood, rainbows are still making me smile (as discussed in my recent Stock Account Journal), and I thought holding this little contest would bring some more happiness my way

Somehow I look around and find it's been over a year since I was last active on deviantArt. How did this happen? I love art, I love the community, and I loved creating my own work.
I turned on the computer a few times after the Christmas/New Year Madness and turned my hand to drawing rather than photomanipulation. I wanted to give it a proper go and see if I could get any good at it. I felt I was making progress, but then I just ended up getting irritated and found myself at the computer less and less often. I turned my attention to my writing instead, and threw myself into working on my novel.
And then, something completely unexpected and wonderful happened; I found out I'm pregnant
I've been walking around in a surreal dream since September when my husband and I found out. We're due at the start of May, and on Monday we will be having our mid-pregnancy scan and hopefully will be able to find out the gender of our little one. Needless to say a lot of my time over the last few months has been dedicated to running to doctor's appointments, reading baby books and trying to work out how we're going to handle everything. We're first time parents, so this is going to be quite a change for us!
But I find I'm now once again looking towards art as a way to unwind after a long day at work, something to keep my mind off all the stresses and worries that inevitable come along with those first time pregnancy jitters. So expect to see me hanging around once more, commenting on your fine works and in time trying my hand at some more work of my own. You all inspire me so much, and I truly have missed dA. I'm glad I'm back
